The full range of Nephrology and Urology services are being offered. The Department of Nephrology is headed by Prof. P. Soundara Rajan with Prof. Georgi Abraham and Dr. K.S. Prabhakar as the Consultant Nephrologists. We have seven computerised reverse osmosis water treatment haemodialysis units with experienced Dialysis nurses and technicians offered round the clock dialysis for both adults and children. We also offer Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis (CAPD) services under Prof. Georgi Abraham, one of the pioneers of CAPD in India. The other Nephrology facilities include CAVH (Continuous Arterio Venous Haemofiltration), Plasmapheresis, Renal Biopsies and Chronic Maintainance Haemodialysis.
Urology and Renal Transplant services were started in May 1995. The Unit is headed by Prof. Sunil Shroff. By the end of the first year, 2600 patients were seen free in the Outpatient Department, 351 urological endoscopic procedures and 116 open operation had been undertaken. The other Urology Staff include Prof. S. Subramanian, Dr. Ravi Shankar, Dr. Venkataramanan, Dr. Govindaraju and Dr. Arun. Full range of endorurological procedures are being performed. The hospital is in the process of buying a Extra Corporeal Lithotripter (ESWL) machine.
Sri Ramachandra Medical College has made significant progress in providing organ transplantation services. Live related and cadaver donor transplants are being performed regularly. We are recognised by the central and state governments for providing health care to their employees.
